Education

  • Licensed by the Medical Council of Canada in 2006
  • Obstetrician-gynecologist, graduated from the University of Montreal in 2011
  • Specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (University of Montreal, 2013)
  • Dr. Saumet is an active member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC), the Canadian Society for Fertility and Andrology (SCFA-CFAS), and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

Research Interests and Work

  • Dr. Saumet has an interest in fertility preservation. He is a member of the International Society for Fertility Preservation and co-authored the establishment of the fertility preservation program involving ovarian tissue cryopreservation for children with cancer at Sainte-Justine Hospital.
  • He is a co-author of an article published in 2018 in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada (JOGC) on egg freezing to mitigate age-related fertility decline.
  • Dr. Saumet serves on the SCFA’s committee for the evaluation of fertility practice guidelines.
  • He has also conducted research to better understand chronic endometritis in individuals experiencing implantation failure and recurrent spontaneous abortion.

On a more personal note

Dr. Saumet is patient and caring. He always takes the time to listen to his patients and colleagues in order to help them in any way he can. A father of two, he is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys playing tennis and mountain biking in his free time. Dr. Saumet is trilingual, speaking French, English, and Spanish with equal fluency. This allows him to navigate easily between different cultures.
