The Miacleo team is committed to women’s health, and to providing the best possible care to optimize their well-being. That’s why the clinic keeps abreast of the latest advances to provide optimal care for any fertility problems our patients may encounter in the course of their lives. When a woman comes to our clinic, we make sure to target her needs precisely and include rigorous care to promote fertility or a return to gynecological health.
We are proud to announce that we are now working in partnership with Pierre-Boucher Hospital, the first to offer radiofrequency fibroid ablation. This is a new technique available to women with symptomatic uterine fibroids. This pioneering new surgical procedure enables uterine fibroids to be removed in a less invasive way than traditional surgical methods. We’re excited about the many advantages of this surgical procedure.
What are uterine fibroids?
Uterine fibroids are benign tumours made up of tissue and smooth muscle in the uterus. Although they may be asymptomatic for many women, some experience a number of more or less pleasant symptoms. Abnormal uterine bleeding, abdominal pain and heaviness, urinary symptoms and possible disturbances to pregnancy and fertility are just some of the unpleasant effects that untreated uterine fibroids can cause.
Because we put the well-being of our patients first, we want to offer them the very best in health care. That’s why our clinic has partnered with Pierre-Boucher Hospital to offer myomectomy for women living with the unpleasant symptoms of uterine fibroids.
Radiofrequency myoma ablation: An innovative technique with many advantages!
Laparoscopy is a surgical technique that has been known and used in the medical field for many years for many types of abdominal and pelvic surgery. However, it is only recently that the removal of uterine fibroids is now offered using a radiofrequency technique by the Pierre-Boucher Hospital for all women living with the unpleasant symptoms caused by this condition. There are many advantages to this method, just to name a few:
- Less scarring and postoperative pain: As the ablation is performed laparoscopically, it is a much less invasive method, with fewer incisions made in the abdomen, less post-operative pain, less scarring and minimal blood loss.
- Faster remission: Recovery time following the procedure is usually shorter than with traditional surgery, enabling the client to return to her routine more quickly.
- More precise method: The surgeon’s use of radiofrequency during the procedure is guided by ultrasound, providing additional precision and clarity during the procedure.
- Less risk of complications: As this procedure is less damaging to the tissues, a lower risk of infection and postoperative complications is demonstrated when using this surgical technique for the removal of uterine fibroids.
- Compatible with future vaginal deliveries: Since this procedure does not cause major scarring of the uterus, there will be no contraindications if a woman wishes to give birth naturally during a future pregnancy. The whole procedure can be performed safely.
