At Miacleo, we are committed to providing comprehensive support to our patients by offering not only advanced medical care but also essential services for their emotional well-being.
Among these services, psychological support plays a central role. We are proud to rely on Dr. Stéphanie Goron, a psychologist specializing in perinatal and fertility issues, to support our patients facing the complex challenges of infertility and assisted reproduction (ART).
Compassionate and personalized support
Passionate about assisted reproduction and perinatal care and sensitive to the associated challenges, Dr. Goron offers psychological support to those in need, from preconception, through pregnancy, and into the postpartum period. She supports individuals in a compassionate and sensitive environment as they navigate the experience of infertility and assisted reproduction treatments at various stages of their journey.
With her deep understanding of the psychological challenges associated with this process, Dr. Goron helps patients better manage the stress and emotions encountered when embarking on the path of assisted reproduction.
« Infertility is often a path marked by doubts, stress, and uncertainties. Taking care of one’s mental health is essential to navigate this journey and better address the challenges related to infertility », explains Dr. Stéphanie Goron.
Dr. Stéphanie Goron, a clinical psychologist and member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec, holds a master’s degree in psychological sciences from the Université de Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) and a doctorate in psychology from the Université du Québec à Montréal. She specializes in anxiety and depressive disorders in adults, with expertise in women’s health, perinatal care, and assisted reproduction.
After completing an internship at the CHUM and the Douglas Hospital, she worked in an assisted reproduction clinic and the CHUM’s birthing center. She now practices exclusively in private practice. Her research on postpartum depression includes a thesis titled: “Postpartum Depression, an Atypical Depressive Phenomenon? Analysis of Symptom Severity, Specific Symptoms, and Causes.”
Naturally curious and committed to providing quality support, she is interested in research on stress management in assisted reproduction contexts to improve the quality of life for people suffering from infertility.
She offers tailored support for different moments in the ART process, including:
- Receiving an infertility diagnosis
- Waiting for results
- Repeated treatment failures
- Assistance with complex decision-making
- Reflecting on the desire for children, the limits of parenthood, or gamete donation
- Managing stress
- Perinatal grief
- Grieving parenthood
She is qualified to conduct psychological consultations in the context of gamete donation (egg or sperm donation). She also offers support for transitioning to parenthood and for women experiencing anxiety and depression symptoms during pregnancy and postpartum.
« I offer a space to listen, to talk, and to provide caring and reassuring support in order to better cope with the challenges surrounding infertility, assisted procreation treatments and the transition to parenthood. With the aim of finding a balance throughout this journey that is so personal and unique to each person », says Dr. Goron.
Her clinical practice adopts a cognitive-behavioral approach, incorporating mindfulness-based interventions. Each psychological support plan and psychotherapeutic intervention is tailored to the specific needs, issues, and sensitivities of each individual.
To help medical teams optimize the care provided to individuals undergoing fertility treatments, Stéphanie Goron offers training workshops and consulting services to fertility clinic staff. This ensures sensitive practices and emotional support for patients throughout their ART journey.
